Your friendly reminder that I will be out of the salon for 10 days. As much as I love taking the time away, I come back refreshed and ready to see my beautiful clients that I’m so grateful to have. The best clients who understand me and my need for R&R. Understandably, I will not be responding to salon related texts, emails or messages until my return to the salon. I love you all and have a fantastic 4th. -Chan💚

I asked our Sweet Jessica for permission to share her story with you. Although, it is quite a remarkable read. Please take the time. And thank you from all of us hairstylists, friends…family! 💚💚💚💚💚💚

A few notes from from Jessica herself (to give you some insight)

•For some, you may know that I have been experiencing some health issues, and others may be hearing this for the first time. Long of the short, I woke up on Feb. 5th with left arm pain. I was totally convinced I had slept on it wrong. On Feb. 12th, my middle finger swelled, and by the 14th, my whole left arm was numb and continued this way. I drove myself to the hospital. My blood pressure was 189/133. It was then that I was admitted into the hospital, and the beginning of many tests were performed. I've been tested for heart attack, mini strokes, brain aneurysm, and everything in between. Thankfully, those were clear. In the days to follow I was released from the hospital to only be back in the ER two days later with a blood pressure over 200, dizziness, blurred vision and THE worst migraine I have ever experienced. My testing continues, but we are narrowing it down to what is called TOA- thoracic outlet syndrome. It happens when someone experiences an injury to the neck or shoulder. I haven't experienced either. But the more I learn, it's common in hairstylist due to the repetitive motion of our arms held up and forward, causing little small injuries over time. Thankfully, I have a dear friend/client whom this happened to a few years ago who was brave enough to share her similar story. This allowed me to have a quick diagnosis. *hers taking 2 years for diagnosis and recovery. For a hairstylist, this would be catastrophic. Currently, I am working with an occupational therapist along with chiropractic therapy to get some relief. My blurred vision finally subsided on Tues, the 20th. The numbness comes and goes. But I've been working really hard in occupational therapy to regain strength in my left hand. It was at 25% strength last week. I may not beable to pull myself up the side of a mountain but I can do hair!😉 Please know that I am working really hard to make a full recovery. I trust there isn't anything physical that my mental won't overcome.🙏 I came back to the salon Wednesday with a part time schedule. It was sooo good for my healing process.🥰 I'd value all the prayers, good vibes and grace as I navigate this little crack in my road.🙏🌿🌞

•As I've embarked on this 3 month health journey, I thought I'd give an update. It's taken this long for answers and for me to wrap my mind around it all. I've been to 59 Dr appts/tests, the ER 4 times, MRI, 2 Xrays, 5 EMG's, an EKT functional neurology test, 4 CT angiograms, a Cervical MRI, an EMG, Ultra Sounds, PET scan, Ionic broncoscopy, and a thyroid biopsy. I now have a Neurologist, Cardiologist, Vascular Surgeon, Pulminologist, Occupational Therapist, a Chiropractor, and Massage Therapist. I've been diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. The good news, I am beginning to find some relief through my dear friend Liz (my chiropractor) my dear friend Dane (massage) and my new friend Erin (occupational therapist) These 3 have worked SO hard for me! I spend 5 hrs a week with them as they help me find pain relief from the Thoracic. The Vascular Dr has now confirmed that it's staying in the nerve. I'm relieved it's not going vascular, which runs the threat of blood clotting. My plan is to keep pursuing my journey with Liz, Dane, and Erin to find continued relief. I'm working 35 hours a week and building strength back in my left arm and both hands. By His Amazing Grace, I am still able to perform my love/passion for hair! At one point, it was my goal to hold my dryer again in my left hand. Though I still have a ways to go I have come so far and am beyond grateful for all my people working so hard to help me get back, the continued love, support and flexibility of my family, friends and clients a.n.d my prayer warriors!🙏🥰❤️ I've felt your love and will continue as I embark on the next phase of this journey. In March I had a CT angiogram looking for blood clots in my arm and lung. I was told they found a mass in my lung and that it's lung cancer. My train derailed in that moment. In the days to come I sat my kids down to tell them the news, I met with pulminology and had a PET scan. The PET scan would show lesions on my lung, thyroid and overy. I have since gotten positive news back from my lung biopsy. It's Not Cancer!!🙏🌻 It's Histoplasmosis. I'm still waiting for more results. As I get my train back on track, I'd be so grateful for your continued prayers🙏😇🥰

•As I reflect on the past 4 months, I've begun to realize just how fragile life/health really is. I've spent 4 months with nerve pain (TOS) which I struggle to have an adequate vocabulary to describe the pain associated with it. My symptoms change from day to day and week to week. Currently, it's affecting my hands. The pain and swelling have left me with limited fine motor skills. Making a fist, grasping a door k**b or unscrewing a water bottle is complicated and has made me become creative in my daily functions. My once worst days have become my best days (which I'm grateful for).... and my worst days, I'm begging the Lord to have mercy on me.🙏

Though, this post is meant to be less about the Thoracic Outlet and more about The Blessing in disguise in which the testing for the Thoracic has led me to further health issues. My PET scan in March showed lesions on my lung, the lymph node of my lung, thyroid, and overy. By His Amazing Grace, the lung issues ended up being Histoplasmosis. My thyroid has come back as stage 1 cancer. My surgery is scheduled for June 27th with a recovery time of two weeks. I had the lab work and testing on my overy this week. I will get the results from that by early next week.

I'd be grateful for your continued prayers.🙏🌻❤️

•There is no doubt just how special I feel with the out poor of love and support I have received through this journey.💕 My heart is full, and my gratitude runs deep through my soul.🙏❤️ As a single mom going through so many health issues at once, I've been humbled. The two things that have weighed heaviest is the fear of "my baby girl being too young to lose her mama" a.n.d...secondly "how will I provide for her while needing to take so much time off work for Dr appointments, testing, surgery and recovery." Because in our business, when we aren't providing hairdos, we aren't earning an income for our families. Though fierce prayers are more than enough, these thoughtful kind and generous friends of mine have decided to put on this special "Brunch and Blowouts" event in honor of helping me!!❤️🙏❤️ My little heart is overflowing with emotions.... I hardly feel worthy of this.❤️🙏🌻
