Hairstylist at John of Italy Salon and Day Spa serving Westlake Village, California and surrounding areas. Call for Consultations. I love what I do.

I have been a hairstylist for over 25 years. I have been blessed over the years with wonderful, loyal clients. It's not every job that you can lift peoples spirits and make them feel better about the way they look when they walk out the door. I have the best clients some of whom have been with me for over 20 years. I started at John of Italy in 1984, worked there four years, then to Lifestyles Sal

,

I hope everyone is staying well. I on the other hand have had quite the experience since the state of California allowed us to open up again and wanted to let you know why I had not been back to the salon yet. I am planning on being back next week starting the 15th. I have a slow start this Saturday with a few clients coming in.

At work I have always been diligent about cleaning and sanitation but out in the community I believe I got a little lazy when it came to thoroughly sanitizing both hands front and back. I know no one who was sick, and I had gone nowhere other than, grocery, atm and gas station.

So on January 20th, in the afternoon, I was suddenly hit with fever and flu-like symptoms, in bed for 2 days before I dragged myself down for a test. On Saturday the 23rd, I received the shocking news I was Covid-19 positive or as I kindly refer to it as "the devil".

Unfortunately, since we had no power, Monday and Tuesday, 24 hours before my fever hit... car stuck in the garage, I asked my dad for a quick ride to curbside pickup for an extra battery pack. So yes by Friday dad was showing symptoms and tested positive on Sunday. At this point we separated and dad came to stay with me in hopes my sister Kathleen and Mom would be safe from this but it was not to be.

Luckily they seemed to get it differently and my sister had more of a sinus and cough and mom even less symptoms but fatigue for sure is a big part of this.

I am so thankful and blessed by my client and family friend I have known for years, she knew exactly the prescription I needed called in immediately. This flu hit hard and by the 25th I was now getting low oxygen levels. I will say a very important item to have in every household right now is the fingertip pulse Oximeter to measure the oxygen in the blood if low to know when to go to the ER. My friend then called in Zpak and it was a scary couple nights and then my dad started down the same path. So off to ER on Thursday, the 28th for both of us. A very long back breaking, cold rainy day in the outside covid tent and we were told we both had Covid pneumonia, but I was already on the medicine. Dad was admitted and I was sent home. He was very lucky to receive the inversion therapy they perform at Simi Valley hospital which is outpatient and I was able to pick him up at 9:45 pm. A couple hard days and then things were looking up until dads pneumonia worsened. Last Wednesday I took dad back to the hospital , he was admitted and has been going through Remdesivir Treatments.

He is doing much better today and it sounds like 2 more days and we can hopefully bring our Dad home thank you Lord.

This thing has hit us hard but we count ourselves blessed to have so many loving, friends, family, church, neighbors and the best clients. I am so thankful we have not been left for wanting when we needed any prescriptions picked up for us and meals and food, groceries, neighbors cleaning up tree damage after the winds, and that part has been amazing. I am so thankful to Jeanine who knew what was needed to get well and the great list of vitamins and things we needed to get heal.

So as I am getting stronger, I look forward to seeing you again at the salon. I will take a new test tomorrow to confirm that I am all clear. I am on day 19 as of today and feeling stronger every day.

We have a special buy 3 products and get 15% off. Once I am back in the salon if you would like curbside pickup I can accommodate you for this.

Below is the information for salon and sanitation:

As a reminder I left all the technical information about our cleaning practices to stay safe from Covid19 and the LINK at the bottom that comes only to me, to fill out before you come in for the appointment with the usual questions about fever etc.

We work hard to ensure the safety of all our clientele and have not had 1 Covid infection connected to services at BeauImage Salon and Spa.

Aside from the normal everyday hay fever, asthma and allergies. It is more important than ever if you or I as the stylist feel sick or have any symptoms beyond normal allergies such as listed under CDC it is important to stay home, seek medical care and come in when the client or stylist is feeling well:

~Fever/Chills ~Cough ~Shortness of breath ~Fatigue ~Muscle/body aches ~headache

~New loss of taste or smell ~Sore throat ~Congestion/Runny nose ~Nausea/vomiting ~Diarrhea

All Protocols Followed:

The following is how each appointment will go:

I will have my station and chair sanitized before and after each client with hospital grade Barbicide Solution.
You may wait in your car or out front and text me that you have arrived, or come in the salon waiting area if it is not too crowded to allow for physical distancing. (we now have tables and chairs outside as well)
A mask must be worn by the stylist and the client at all times according to the guidelines at the county of Ventura and State of California.
We are not able to double book at this time, so it will be one person at a time unless we can work something out ahead of time allowing for proper spacing or for families.
I will greet you at the door or front waiting area to take your temperature, we have hand sanitizers at the front desk and also at my station for your use and mine.
A new sanitized cape will be used once for every client, then removed, stored in a closed container and not used again until properly laundered at 160 degrees for at least 25 minutes.
Everything that is used on each client is cleaned and disinfected before use again.
We have removed all magazines, coffee and water stations until the guidelines allow us to bring them back.
They encourage the use of credit cards, Venmo, Google Pay, ApplePay, QuickPay or any contactless payment systems. I am also okay if you prefer to use checks or cash.

I will be booking more time for appointments to allow for the extra sanitizing in between, for appropriate breaks for me to breath in between mask use.

I know some want to take it slow and may not feel comfortable quite yet to be in the salon. I am here when you are ready and I look forward to catching up with you all again.

***One last important item, we are also asked to contact clients before appointment to ask about symptoms or any exposure. I have created this link for only my clients, a form that I have for you to fill out that only goes to me basically reiterating all of the above information***

You can click on the link below to fill this out before your appointment and I will be notified when you have completed the short form.
