6 years. 6 years!!!!! 6 years owning my own business; my own business based off of creativity, science, and communication.
My guidance counselor my senior year of high school had several meetings with my parents, urging me to go to college. He told me I “shouldn’t waste my potential” going to cosmetology school.
The woman I worked under for 8 years said, “I can’t believe you’re doing this to me” when I decided to leave.
I went to another salon and 10 weeks later, we were shut down due to the ‘vid.
I decided enough was enough. I did everything on my own at that point anyway.
16 years later, here we are.
I am so beyond proud of myself.
Thankful doesn’t even cut it to everyone who has sat in my chair.
My clients are the moving parts of my life. We’ve been through so much together. I consider each and every one of you a part of my weird family.

Here’s to 6, 10, 13 lucky more years doing what I love - and under my own name. Me. Alyssa. I did this. We did this.

6 years ago I opened my doors to Lucky 13 Studios for the first time. I wish my mom could be here to see today.

613 is a number that has followed me around my entire life.

In Judaism, commandments are divided into 248 positive precepts and 365 prohibitions. According to our sages, the human body is divided into 248 organs and 365 sinews. Our sages teach that the 248 limbs correspond to the 248 positive precepts, and the 365 sinews correspond to the 365 prohibitions. Each commandment pairs up with a specific limb or sinew, and just as we take care of our physical limbs and sinews, we also need to take care of our spiritual “limbs and sinews.” There are 613 mitzvot in the Torah that a Jewish person should accomplish in their lifetime.

Spiritually speaking - 6 represents a wide array of attributes such as simplicity, problem-solving abilities, responsibility, dependability, compromise, gratitude, and grace. 1 signifies fresh starts, opportunities, and new beginnings. This number pushes the idea that any person can manifest their dreams into reality with positive beliefs, thoughts, and actions. 3 represents help and motivation, free spirit, zeal and enthusiasm, growth, creativity, inspiration, communication, expansion, & the principles of increase. It’s also related to self-expression, courage, and the power to manifest abundance.

I love giving back the talents the universe has graced me with. Whoever has worn my art on your head - thank you from the bottom of my soul.

This year also marks 16 years since my hair journey officially started.
What you put in the universe always comes back to you.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported my journey. I can’t wait to see where we’re at in 6, 8 and 10 more years. 💚
