Michael Katala has been a student of percussion for over 30 years, and teaching percussion for 15 years. With a deep respect for the history and tradition of the instruments, he shares his passion for the cultural background of rhythms with his students. He is trained in Therapeutic Sound. He plays and hand-crafts instruments such as Djembe drums, Kamale N'gonis, Koras, Monochords and Native American-style flutes. Michael also creates sculptures, home decor, and furniture which celebrate the diversity of each unique piece of wood chosen.
