This was supposed to be a routine dermal piercing removal… until I discovered something completely unexpected 😳

The first anchor was stubborn, but the real surprise?? A second anchor buried underneath that the patient had forgotten about from over 10 years ago!

I carefully removed both using precision techniques, including an 8mm punch excision, to safely get them out and repair the area.

Today I had the privilege of giving my annual dermatology lecture to the Columbia University FNP students — year 13! 💙

We covered it all: from rashes and malignant lesions to acne, psoriasis, warts, cutaneous infections, atopic dermatitis, and so much more (200+ slides in one day 🤯). My voice may be gone, but it was so worth it!

Teaching future providers how to confidently identify, diagnose, and treat skin conditions is one of my greatest passions. There’s nothing better than sharing knowledge that will directly help patients in the real world. 🩺🌟
