Everyone struggles with ingrown hairs from time to time, but how much do you actually know about these pesky bumps? An ingrown hair occurs when a hair curls back and grows sideways into the skin, rather than upwards, away from the skin.

1) Ingrown hairs can show up anywhere on the body, but they are most likely to appear in areas where the hair is curly or coarse, such as underarms, Bikini, legs and the chin.

2) When dead skin cells are not sloughed away from the skin by means of exfoliation, they can clog up a hair follicle, causing the hair inside to grow sideways. Regular exfoliation is important & will help prevent the build-up of these dry and dead skins cells. Keeping the skin hydrated is also very important, moisturizing daily will ensure your skin stays soft and smoother!

3) Ingrown hairs is not a serious medical condition, and it will rarely lead to further complications. However, some people may feel tenderness in the areas affected especially in area where it is covered by tight clothing. Ingrown hairs can lead to skin infections (folliculitis) only if the client attempts to remove the hair by squeezing it with their fingers or using tweezers improperly.
