Looking back at Vietnam's coffee export prices in July 2024, it is clear that the export price of Robusta coffee was at times higher than that of Arabica coffee this year.
Specifically, according to the General Department of Customs, in July, the volume of Robusta coffee exported was more than 58 thousand tons, worth more than USD 263 million, corresponding to an average export price per ton of Robusta coffee of USD 4,528. Meanwhile, in July, Arabica coffee exported more than 5 thousand tons, worth more than USD 22 million, corresponding to USD 4,350 per ton. Thus, in July, the average export price of Robusta coffee was USD 178 per ton, higher than that of Arabica coffee.
According to experts, world coffee prices will continue to fluctuate strongly until the end of 2024 due to bad weather, transportation disruptions, and a tight legal environment in many countries.
Some experts predict that tensions will ease in 2025, but prices will continue to increase in the long term due to climate change and many other factors.

Aquaculture accounts for more than 50% of total global seafood production volumes, and aquaculture production volumes are increasing at a rate of 3.3% globally. Meanwhile, capture fisheries volumes have remained relatively constant for decades, and have declined slightly in recent years. Demand for seafood products will continue to increase with the increasing global population. By 2050, global demand for protein will increase by 20%, leading to a corresponding rise in demand for seafood. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) predicts that aquaculture production volumes will reach 140 million metric tons by 2050, which means that aqua feed production volumes will also minimally double during this time. The aquaculture industry will have to find alternative protein sources for feed production to achieve this growth level sustainably. Soy products are well positioned to play a crucial role in this effort.

Climate change is making agriculture more challenging and less predictable all over the U.S. But the farm-rich Southwest may face the most imminent threat, as extreme heat, a 20-year drought, and shifting weather patterns make growing crops increasingly difficult.
The problem has intensified since 2020, when extreme drought conditions due to low precipitation and extreme temperatures left farmers throughout the region with little water to irrigate their fields, or sometimes none at all. To adapt to a more volatile, more extreme climate in these desert regions, farmers will have to change not only what they grow but also how they grow it.
โFarmers are realizing, โIโm seeing this on the ground โ water shortages, heat waves, wildfire โ and I need to do something about it to be able to survive this change,โโ said Jill Moe, director of the Desert Farming Initiative at the University of Nevada-Reno. โIf we donโt make these changes in the next 10 years, weโre going to be in big trouble.โ

Agriculturedive.com reported that this outbreak in Weld County in north-east Colorado was the largest in the state since 2022.
As the stateโs largest agricultural county, with about 850 000ha of land dedicated to farming and raising livestock, the county was also the leader in dairy production, the report stated.
According to Agriculture Dive, the disaster declaration would unlock state resources โnecessary to help affected poultry facilities respond to and contain outbreaksโ.
The state veterinarian also issued a quarantine order for parts of Weld County to restrict the movement of birds and poultry in and out of the county, a release issued by the state said.

The land of Sa Huynh is located in the southernmost part of Quang Ngai province and is associated with a famous culture dating back approximately 3,000 years ago. There are mountains stretching out to the sea, creating a poetic scene.
Looking from the sea to the mainland, one can see majestic beaches and mountains as beautiful as paintings. Among them lies a rocky beach near the Go Co community tourism village (Pho Thanh ward, Duc Pho town), containing many interesting things. It is called Trang Muoi, nearly 10 ha wide, located between the deep green forest and the vast ocean.
Every day, the salt workers add seawater to the fields to increase the thickness of the salt. The salt fields are hollows, or rocky foundations lined with clay. They bring clay from the edge of the village to Trang Muoi, knead it with seawater, and then line the banks to form small salt fields. The first batch of salt crystallizes after a whole week of โsunbathingโ. Since the salinity increases, the next time, after only three sunny days, the salt becomes extremely eye-catching pure white grains.
The salt grains here are much larger than those in other places, salty but not too strong, and are perfect for seasoning food. Many people prefer to use this type of salt to pickle fish and blanch fish before shipping them to distant areas to sell. Anchovies, mackerel, and tuna intestines combined with the salt here produce batches of delicious fish sauce.
"Making salt on rocks is not very productive, but the quality is out of the question. It is usually saved for family use, for salting or blanching fish. We only sell to customers if there is salt left to spare. Many people buy at a price of VND 30,000/kg, but sometimes there is not enough salt to sell,โ Van said.

Dr. Doan Ngoc Khoi, who has many years of research on Sa Huynh Culture, was excited when he discovered the "blooming rock area" that the locals called Trang Muoi. For generations, the people of Go Co had diligently made salt on the rock field next to the village. They felt elated to find out that the salt production profession had actually existed for thousands of years, as it helped to clarify the mysteries of the ancients.
Most of the salt fields have the characteristic of chloride penetrating over a long period of time into the rock crust, causing the rocks to erode and become dark black, containing many mysteries of old age. After many days of research, Dr. Khoi believes that the salt production profession on the rocks here dates back more than 2,000 years ago. The tradition perseveres, lasting from the ancient Sa Huynh residents to the Cham Pa and Dai Viet people. This is considered an important discovery, contributing to clarifying the salt production techniques of prehistoric people.

A sustainability-focused nonprofit launched Tuesday that aims to bring rigor and accountability to how carbon dioxide is pulled from the atmosphere and help companies verify and better implement their carbon removal policies.
The Carbon Removal Standards Initiative seeks to provide policymakers and regulators with โfinancially unconflicted adviceโ and technical assistance on how to set science-based standards for extracting and sequestering carbon dioxide, per its website. CRSI said its focus will be on the quantification of such standards.
CRSI is funded by environmental nonprofit Carbon180, the Bill Gates-backed sustainable investments firm Breakthrough Energy, climate research organization Outlier Projects and the Larsen Lam Climate Change Foundation, among others.

A chemical found in rocket fuel, certain plastics and airbags is also prevalent in several food and grocery items, according to Consumer Reports.
Tests by the advocacy group discovered that the chemical, known as perchlorate, was detected in measurable levels of 67% of 196 samples across 63 grocery and 10 fast food products. The levels ranged from just over two parts per billion (ppb) to 79 ppb.
Consumer Reports noted that none of the foods tested, which included fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat products, had โacutely dangerous levels of perchlorate.โ Still, the group noted that some foods had enough of the chemical where several servings could add up to โpotentially hazardous levels.โ
