🔺Previously, on December 1, 2023, the Emergency Department of the International Medical Center at Hue Central Hospital received a case of a 73-year-old female French patient. She had left hip severe pain and dislocation after slipping down the stairs.
The patient was then diagnosed with a Garden IV femoral neck fracture. She urgently had surgery to replace the entire left hip joint to help relieve pain, mobilize early, and avoid complications due to prolonged immobilization such as pneumonia, pressure ulcers, and deep vein thrombosis.
The surgical team was led by Associate Professor Nguyen Van Hy, Director of the International Medical Center of Hue Central Hospital. After surgery, the patient's health recovered very well. She was assigned to wear medical stockings to prevent deep vein thrombosis and receive a personalized rehabilitation exercise program.
On the third day after surgery, the patient was able to practice walking with crutches. On the afternoon of December 13, 2023, the patient was discharged from the hospital and planned to fly home.

📌 On the evening of October 25, 2023, the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of Hue Central Hospital received information from Vinmec Da Nang Hospital about the case of an American patient. He was admitted to the hospital at 7:00 p.m. the same day, and diagnosed with Ascending aortic dissection – Type A.
🖥 Faced with the patient's emergency situation, an online consultation was urgently organized to confirm the diagnosis and decide on the most optimal treatment method for the patient. Final diagnosis: The patient has an Ascending aortic aneurysm - Type A and is indicated for immediate emergency surgery. That night, the patient was transferred from Vinmec Da Nang Hospital to Hue Central Hospital for surgery.
🚑 At 11 p.m., the patient was transferred to the Emergency Department of Hue Central Hospital. The surgical procedure presented numerous challenges, but after five hours of intense work, the surgery was successful thanks to the expertise of the surgeon team, close collaboration between physicians from different specialties, and modern equipment.

📊Around 15 million Vietnamese are afflicted with mental illnesses, with depression and anxiety taking the top spots, Deputy Health Minister Tran Van Thuan said.

Depression and anxiety affect around 5-6% of the population, while other conditions include bipolar disorders or alcohol-induced psychiatric issues, he said.

A total 12% of the child population suffer from mental disorders, meaning that over three million children are in need of mental health support services. Anyone can be affected by mental illnesses at certain points in life, Thuan said.

Many people with mental disorders could not have access to appropriate mental health services. Only 29% of those with mental disorders and around one-third of those with depression get to receive official mental health support globally, Thuan said.

Luong Ngoc Khue, head of the Department of Medical Service Administration, said mental illnesses usually have no exact causes, and are often the result of several biological, psychological and environmental factors. Childhood trauma, discrimination and substance abuse can all trigger mental disorders, he added.

"Mental disorder is like any other condition. It needs to be diagnosed and treated. As such, people need to gain better awareness on mental disorders and fight discrimination," Khue said, adding that everyone is hesitant to acknowledge their own mental health problems.

In Vietnam, only medical facilities at provincial level or central facilities have mental health departments that provide care and treatment.
