🇳🇵🍛 A Taste of Nepal in the Heart of Kosovo
For the past 15 years, brothers Pahal Singh Khadka and Gopal Singh Khadka have been bringing the flavours of Nepal to Kosovo through their family-run Himalayan Gorkha Indian & Nepalese Restaurant in Pristina.
Pahal, a chef, and Gopal, the restaurant’s manager, arrived in Kosovo from Nepal and turned a family business into a place where cultures meet through food. Drawing on recipes and traditions passed down through generations, they have introduced customers from different backgrounds to the rich culinary heritage of Nepal while building a life and community in Kosovo.
From traditional curries and freshly baked naan to the spirit of sharing meals with family and friends, their story reflects how food can preserve cultural identity, create connections, and bring people together across borders.
Today, the restaurant welcomes people from all walks of life—some seeking a taste of home, others discovering Nepali cuisine for the very first time.

These discussions aim to harmonize practices across locations and strengthen registration and reporting mechanisms.
In parallel, IOM is also presenting its Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programme, highlighting the support available for migrants who choose to return voluntarily to their countries of origin.

A successful study visit was conducted to strengthen institutional capacity for evidence‑based migration governance. Delegates from institutions in Kosovo, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Police Risk Analysis Unit, and the Agency of Statistics, took part in an intensive programme hosted by IOM Netherlands.
Through sessions with the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND), the Ministry of Asylum and Migration, and the European Migration Network, participants gained hands‑on insights into CIRAM risk analysis, intelligence‑led investigations, OSINT techniques, migration data platforms, and business intelligence tools.
The visit contributed to strengthened analytical capacities, enhanced inter‑institutional cooperation, and more effective use of data across the migration governance chain.
