Imagine being loved one day… and the next day, you’re no longer wanted.

That’s what happened to sweet Harper.

Harper came to our hospital after being hit by a car while wandering outside her property. Her hind leg was badly injured and required orthopaedic surgery. Sadly, we learned that her owner no longer wanted her because she “wanted too much attention,” leaving her to roam the streets to entertain herself.

It was heartbreaking to hear.
But it also gave Harper a chance at a new beginning.

Our team was deeply upset for her, but also grateful that she is now safe with us, where she will never be ignored again. Harper deserves a home where her loving, affectionate nature is celebrated, not rejected.

She is wonderful with other dogs and adores every person she meets. All she wants is a family who will love her, keep her safe, and give her the companionship she’s been craving.

𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮’𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 🙏🏻💙

Little Bella, a sweet senior girl, was accidentally caught in a dog fight and came terrifyingly close to losing her life.

Her owners rushed her to us in panic, not knowing what the outcome would be.

We assured them that we would do everything we could and our team immediately got to work.

Bella was stabilised and taken straight to theatre for full blood work and emergency surgery.

She spent several days in ICU receiving intensive nursing care, before moving to our ward for continued monitoring.

Thanks to her incredible strength and the dedication of our veterinary and nursing team, Bella kept fighting.

After days of recovery and daily checks, she was finally able to go home.

Today, Bella is back with her family and well on her way to making a full recovery.

Another life saved and another reminder of why we do what we do.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱, 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱 🙏🏻💙

Earlier today, our Inspectorate Department received an urgent call about dogs trapped in a deep open drain near a canal just behind Vanguard Mall in Athlone.

An area surrounded by thick, overgrown grass where anyone, human or animal, could easily fall in and become trapped.

Thanks to the quick thinking of nearby residents who heard the desperate cries for help, our team was alerted just in time.

Within minutes, our Inspectorate and Hospital team were on the scene, carefully navigating the risky terrain to reach the frightened dogs.

After a tense few moments, all three dogs were safely rescued and brought back to our hospital for immediate medical assessment.

They were cold, shaken, and hungry, but thankfully safe and now receiving the care and comfort they desperately needed.

Sadly, no one in the surrounding community seems to know who these dogs belong to.

We are so grateful to the community members who didn’t turn a blind eye.

We have done our best to reach out to the City of Cape Town to assist with covering up of this dangerous area. 🙏🏻

💔 Scoopy’s Lucky Escape - A Story of Courage and Hope 🐾

Sometimes, life changes in an instant… 💔

Sweet Scoopy was brought to our hospital after being hit by a car in a freak accident. The impact left him in shock and pain, and our team immediately jumped into action to help this brave boy.

X-rays revealed a badly fractured radius and ulna, and we knew urgent surgery was the only way to save his leg and give him the chance to walk again. Without hesitation, our dedicated veterinary team prepared for surgery - carefully pinning and repairing the broken bone.

Through it all, Scoopy showed such incredible strength and trust. Even in pain, his gentle eyes seemed to say, “Thank you for helping me.” Moments like these remind us why we do what we do - every single day.

Today, we’re so happy to share that Scoopy is doing absolutely amazing! He’s gone home to continue his recovery surrounded by love and comfort. He’ll be coming back to us for regular check-ups, but the hardest part is behind him now.

Scoopy’s story is a powerful reminder of how fragile life can be and how kindness, care, and quick action can change everything.

Today, we were honoured to visit our friends at the Faircape Healthcare Centre in Tokai. ❤️‍🩹🩺

Our rescue dogs were eager to receive cuddles and the odd treat while spreading their unconditional puppy love to those who need it most.

These gorgeous pups also wiggled themselves into the hearts of many staff members who might be keen to adopt them. 💙🐾🐶

Tiny Jurgen’s Fight for Life 💔

At just 6 weeks old, little Jurgen was found struggling to walk, with a huge abscess on his back and in terrible pain. 💔

His amazing rescuers rushed him to our hospital and our team discovered the heartbreaking truth: Jurgen had a fractured pelvis, a broken femur, and that painful abscess that needed to be drained and stitched.

Despite everything, this tiny kitten never gave up. 🩵 He’s been so brave through treatment and is already starting to heal.

Today, Jurgen got to go home - still on his road to recovery, but safe, loved, and surrounded by care. 🐾

Thank you to his rescuers for giving him the chance to fight and heal. 💙
