Whilst training for the Comrades Marathon in 2018 I developed a painful overuse knee injury which put me out of my training programme. I was desperate for a solution and consulted three different physiotherapists, a biokineticist and even a sports physician, who suggested a cortisone injection in the knee. Did all of these interventions help? No! After months of treatment I eventually had to withdraw from the Comrades Marathon as I was not able to run without pain. It was devastating and I thought my knee would never heal, until I met Elizabeth. She has a special gift of identifying the problem through her touch. She diagnosed an area of weakness in my knee, and prescribed a combination of physical therapy and strengethening exercises. I embarked on a rehabilitation programme under her watchful eye, and after only a month there was improvement. My knee became stronger and soon I could resume my running without any issues. In 2019 I was able to complete another Comrades Marathon. This would not have been possible without Elizabeth’s advice, compassion, patience and of course her special touch. She is the best and after five years I am still a happy client.
