Can we help you, or a family you may know?
We have had alot of enquiries from moms with kids on the spectrum and asking if we can offer a short course on hair cutting. This seems to be a massive issue for children with autism.
Obviously, this is a cause very close to my heart, considering my gorgeous nephew, James is on the spectrum.
We know that you, as parents have large expenses for your kids, and naturally, we don't want to add to that in anyway.
So, we would like to offer a 2 week workshop with moms of kids on the spectrum to come in and learn the basics of cutting your childs hair for FREE. We do not want to charge you for the skill, but will have a fee for the kit. (Which will be as low as I can make it)
We will do this on a Saturday and book a half an hour slot for each child for week 1, to come in with mom and dad or carer to canvas the place, maybe come inside, sit on the chairs, look around, climb, stim, squeal (whatever) and for week two, we will schedule a 1h spot for mom and dad or mom/ dad to come and cut your little ones hair. This will be one on one. So you, your child and our lecturer.
We are not trying to take away work from any hairdressers your child is happy to go to, we are wanting to help the mom who literally has to sit on their child to get a hair cut, the child who only feels safe when mom or dad cut their hair.
We will ensure a calm environment with little sensory overload as possible, minimal bright lighting and a generally calm atmosphere. We can arrange a few squishy toys, or whatever your little one likes, you may bring along.
