AXLE MATE - Wheel Bearing Protectors and trailer services

Axle mate came about when i stood one to many time at the side of the road with a collapse wheel bearing on my trailer , and i looked after the bearings.

.Axle Mate is a high quality, stainless steel , wheel bearing protector designed for all types of recreational trailers .Boat, caravans, horse boxes, off road etc etc ....Whatever you tow axle mate will keep your bearings turning and save you money Could not understand how the water got into the hubs. Had a look what was in the market , and was not happy as there was not a straight fit system ,

Maintenance

Folks if your trailer has had a bearing failure, you have to do a proper inspection as to why it happened and what damaged it caused to the axle

If the bearing failed because water came in, then double check the journal for damage that could affect the seal...if journal is fine the water came in due to seal failure or cap damaged.

A lot of shops use the same cap, but they bliksemed it with a hammer and chisel to get it off, causing dents and distortion, this preventing proper sealing

Now before just fitting new bearings an seals, and this where the majority of boat ships fail, check the journal for damage and make sure the hub is not out of round, ie the seal and cap fits properly , or else you on the road to failure

As mentioned I do a lot of direct marketing, I see your trailer, I get your number and will send you information or engage directly with you.

So why bat me or the product

It can't be that you don't have the money, because your rig is worth upward of 250 k....and the cost of axle mates is less than 1 % of that, and even less if your rig cost more. You probably burn twice the cost of a set of AXLE MATES ,on fuel and tackle, chop en a dop, for a days fishing

You clearly must enjoy the yearly schlep of replacing bearings, and the cost involved , towing your boat to the shop, diesel, your time, workshop costs, sitting in traffic, which works out to around double the cost if a set of axle mates.

And you must like living on the edge getting the rapala lip from the crew, or even worse, the vrou, when you have bearing failure at the side of the road, even worse in the bush, or game reserve, and now you sit....lost time , roadside repairs or flat bed tow truck....money money money goodbye

Ja nee, you can take the horse to the water.....

I'll say this again , since 2009 over 600 sets on trailers, not a single bearing failure due to lack of lubrcation or water ingress into the hubs, bearings lasting ten years and longer

AXLE MATE was borne out of personal experiences. It's designed for south African conditions and trailers, it's PROUDLY made in South Africa,

Always at your service

OIL FILLED AXLE VS STANDARD AXLE - WHICH IS BETTER

Over the last ten months of working in the boating industry , if has proven my mindset that grease filled hubs with axle mates is the most cost effective way to get the best out of your trailers wheel bearings

Oil filled axle are extremely expensive in initial outlay and then the parts are extremly expensive eg brake caliper pots can set you back close R6000 for two.

If you have leaking seals on one hub , you end up with contamination on the other side as the water mixes with the oil. This cant happen with a standard axle set up

Neither oil filled axle or standard axle with AXLE MATEs are fit and forget. The seals need to be changed. On the oil filled axle there are three seals and thus last longer but if start leaking oil the journal has most likely been grooved and due to the size its and labour intensive and costly repair. Not many engineers have a lathe that can handle that diameter.

Also when a leak develops you loose lubrication. With Axle MATE , when the hub seal goes , the positive pressure will push the grease through, and the bearings remain lubricated and water is kept out.

Some of these oil filled axle are not SABS approved (go do your homework)

I suppose if money is no problem then costs are not an issue , but for us mere mortals who are not in that income bracket , beware when buying a secondhand trailer with oil filled axles...I has the potential to break the bank.

Your in safe and cost effective towing
