🚨🚨BackaBuddy Campaign for Hawks Officer Karl Sander Smashes R5,000 Target, Surplus to Fund Durban Harbour K9 Unit🚨🚨

A BackaBuddy fundraising campaign for Hawks officer Karl Sander went viral this week, raising more than R200,000 and crushing its original R5,000 goal.

The campaign took off after Sander testified that management had polygraphed him over a stolen coffee machine at work. The story drew widespread attention online, with donors rallying behind the officer.

Sander has now announced he will use the massive surplus to fund narcotics K9 training at Durban Harbour. The donation will support the specialized unit responsible for detecting drugs at one of South Africa’s busiest ports.

This started as R5,000 to cover legal costs, and the public response has been overwhelming,” Sander said in a campaign update. “I’m redirecting the surplus to where it’s needed most: our K9 handlers at Durban Harbour."

BackaBuddy confirmed the campaign closed far above its target, making it one of the platform’s fastest-growing law enforcement fundraisers this year."
