Lately, with all the ongoing hair discrimination still happening in the workplaces and professionals leaves, I felt called to make a statement—loud, proud and unapologetic.

So I did a photoshoot with my crown in full bloom and wanted to add as much volume as possible.

Because our hair isn’t unprofessional.
It’s not a distraction.
It’s history, power, and identity—unfiltered.

This shoot was more than aesthetics—it was activism through presence.
To every Black woman who’s ever been told to “tone it down,” I see you. And I raise you: more volume.

Yesterday our founder Dr. Charlene Makita had the opportunity to present at a UN side event last night highlighting the hazardous health effects of using products and synthetic hair that contain harmful ingredients like cancinogens and endocrine disrupters in black women and children.

Black women and children deserve safe products.

This is a health issue.
A justice issue.
A protection issue.

We need stronger regulation.
We need transparency.
We need change

⚠️What an incredible week at Parliament! ⚠️

We know we’ve been abit quiet but it was all for a good cause! Our founder Dr. chacha_makita is officially a volunteer for (WAD)!!
She took to Parliament for the first ever round table discussion dedicated to Afro Hair!
Founder of WAD Michelle De Leon is encouraging parliament to change the 2010 Equality Act to protect Afro hair.

Until this day, Black professionals still experience Afro hair discrimination—in interviews, in the workplace and even in schools. Our natural hair is scrutinized, policed and deemed “unprofessional” simply for existing as it grows.

Enough is enough. Afro hair is professional. Afro hair is beautiful. Afro hair is not a distraction.

It’s time for real change.
Let’s raise awareness and push for policies that protect us
