In these photos is an account of I came to "stumble" on the appetite suppressing Hoodia Gordonii.

My Hoodia Gordonii Powder Story:
I've never had weight issues, even after 3 kids and being perimenopausal (I'm in my late 40s).
Nevermind that I do my best to eat well, exercise relatively (running & bodyweight exercises), and have no "obesity gene", I'm always asked what's my secret.
The funny thing is that I'm often asked by people who are on the "heavy side of eating" even when they attempt to lose weight through exercise.
I appreciate that losing weight is a struggle. I know people who perpetually try, but find it hard to reduce eating and hence their weight.
Recognising a need, I started researching hunger suppressing supplements. Almost immediately I came across an article on Hoodia Gordonii
(https://www.webmd.com/diet/features/hoodia-lots-of-hoopla-little-science)
What is it and how does it work:
It's a plant (spiny succulent) known to have been eaten by the Khoisan (bushmen) people of the Kalahari to suppress appetite so they could go on for days without feeling hungry while hunting (no wonder they're so "skinny" 😀)
Studies done by researchers (including the CSIR) show that there is an active ingredient (molecule) in it called P57 which stimulates the part of the brain responsible for regulating appetite. So basically Hoodia works by tricking the brain into thinking you're full.
It should also be noted that research on the effects of the plant is limited. However, all seem to agree on the appetite suppressing P57 found in Hoodia.
I found various forms of Hoodia based dietary supplements sold online, from tablets, chewables, powders and teas.
Why I used it and how:
Out of curiosity as to whether it actually works, it suppresses appetite, I decided to try it myself. My brain told me the powder would work best since it would dissolve quicker into my bloodstream. So I ordered that.
I decided to use it for a week since I don't want to "vanish" if it is effective (remember, no weight issues 😉).
I started taking the Hoodia powder on the evening of the 19th Oct. Today is the 26th, so it has been a week.
This is how I did it:
There were no instructions on how I should take it. So, I decided to add 1 tsp in almost a full cup of water: yurk!🤮 (it's bitter)...I "downed" it anyway (talk about a girl on a mission💪)
I then thought, hang on, how am I going to prove I've lost any weight since I don't even know how much I weigh (I never weigh myself, I just go by how my jeans fit and how my thighs look 🤫).
So I decided to take measurements of certain areas of my body such as arms, waist, hips, thighs and calves (right leg, it's slightly bigger than my left). I also decided I'd take it in the mornings and before bedtime.
In the morning after my run, I thought I'm not going to have that bitter taste in my mouth again, so I replaced the water with milk and honey: much better, but it doesn't dissolve so you have to keep stirring and attempt to "down it".
I also decided to stop running that morning. I wanted to see if I'd lose any weight even without burning any calories.
After my runs, I usually do tummy exercises like crunches, I stretch, cool off while I have breakfast, read scripture and then take a shower - in that order.
I'm usually quick to eat since I usually feel quite hungry after running. Not this morning. I wasn't feeling hungry at all. I only ate after showering and only out of concern that my body needed the nutrients because I'd been running.
Same situation during lunch time. I couldn't finish my normal portion. The Hoodia is working! I thought. Part of me thought, it's too soon, maybe it's just psychological, because I know I took it. Mind you, I hadn't even taken it again since the morning.
I believe in eating at least 3 meals a day. So when I was still not feeling that hungry in the evening, I resorted to a slice of bread with peanut butter and honey (my favourite 😋) and a glass of water. I took my Hoodia milk mixture again before bed.
The next day was a repetition of the previous. I didn't, however, take the "night drink". I thought, argh man, why do I need to suppress my appetite while I'm sleeping (Duh!)
It was still a struggle to take the mixture in liquid form. So, on the 3rd morning I decided to mix it into my mabele (sorghum) porridge instead. Whew! I wish I'd thought about this much sooner (😍)
I've been taking it that way since. Alternating the mabele with oatmeal.
I found that:
I was often thirsty, so my water intake also doubled, which is great.
On the few days I took it in liquid form, breakfast turned to brunch since I'd feel full and not have breakfast at my usual time.
So, I'd recommend taking about 15-30 minutes before breakfast. That way, you can reduce your breakfast meal portion and hence your caloric intake.
I didn't necessarily feel full upon waking so I wouldn't attribute my breakfast "fullness" to having taken it the night before but to the few minutes before breakfast of taking it.
My constipation (perimenopausal, remember) subsided. I've been "going" every single day😊…which means my metabolism has improved.
I'm not or haven't experienced any of the side effects such as nausea, skin sensation, etc cited in literature.
My conclusion:
It's been a week and I'm happy to report that it does actually make you feel full for much longer. The stuff works! It suppresses appetite! And my body measurements confirm that I've indeed shed some centimeters. Yey!! 💃
What now:
I'm so impressed with the results that I've decided to supply the powder in 100g packets at a cost of R150 excluding delivery.
So, if you've been struggling to lose weight because you struggle to stay away from food. This could be your solution.
