Targeted Skincare for acne/blemish prone and hyperpigmentation/uneven skin tone

02/03/2026

Not all acids are created equal.

Stronger, fast-penetrating acids can trigger inflammation — and in melanin-rich skin, inflammation often worsens hyperpigmentation.

That’s why we prefer gentler, well-balanced exfoliants like mandelic acid. It's larger molecular structure allows for more controlled exfoliation, reducing the risk of irritation while still improving texture, acne, and uneven tone over time.

At DermoProf, our formulations contain these clinically studied ingredients in the correct proportion— designed to support the skin barrier, minimise irritation, and be gentle enough for consistent use.

Because real results don’t come from overnight aggressive treatments.
They come from smart formulation, patience, and consistency.

Gentle. Intentional. Effective.

Hyperpigmentation isn’t a one-product problem — and it isn’t solved overnight either.

Real results come from a routine that’s safe for long-term use, practical enough to stick to, and designed to work with your skin, not against it.

Consistency matters.
And consistency only happens when skincare is easy, affordable, and effective.

That’s why hyperpigmentation needs to be treated at multiple pathways, not just the surface. Inflammation control is just as important as pigment correction — especially for skin of colour, where inflammation is a key trigger for excess melanin.

The PigmentoB Range works across these pathways with a complete routine:
Cleanser • Serum • Cream

Formulated with proven actives like:
🌿 Tranexamic Acid,
🌿Niacinamide,
🌿Mandelic Acid,
🌿Green Tea Extract,
🌿Linoleic Acid, and
🌿Bacocalmine

Ingredients chosen not just for results, but for skin tolerance and long-term safety.

Because brighter skin isn’t about harsh treatments. It’s about calm, consistent, intelligent care. ✨ #

Important points regarding cleansers:

1) Do not overcleanse

2) Cleansers are meant to remove environmental pollutants, makeup, sunscreen as well as build up of dead skin cells and secretions.

3)Cleansers must be mild and gentle so as not to strip the acid mantle of the skin/disturb skin barrier function

4)Cleansers should not contain harsh, rough ingredients such kernels otherwise known as 'scrubs'... These damage/scratch the surface of the skin, compromising the skin barrier function.

5)Harsh ingredients found in some cleansers dry out the skin, causing a disturbance in sebum regulation. Drying out the skin can actually cause the skin to secrete more sebum in an attempt to overcompensate 'dryness' leading to a vicious cycle of breakouts. The Balancing Serum can help repair this.

6) The acid mantle protects our skin from 'bad' bacteria and maintains the natural biome.

7) The acid mantle allows good pe*******on of actives that are formulated into creams targeted for specific conditions such as acne and hyperpigmentation

8) A pH of 5.5 is ideal

9) Cleansers should contain soothing, calming ingredients such as allantoin found in our Gentle Cleanser

10) Your face should not feel like it went through a drought or marathon after Cleanser, it should feel smooth and comfortable.

UVA vs UVB: What’s Actually Damaging Your Skin?

UVA = “Aging Rays”
• Cause hyperpigmentation
• Break down collagen + elastin → wrinkles
• Pe*****te deeper + are present year-round

UVB = “Burning Rays”
• Cause sunburn
• Directly linked to skin cancer and melanomas

🌈 Why You Need FULL-SPECTRUM Sunscreen
Most people think SPF covers everything—but SPF only measures UVB protection.
A full-spectrum sunscreen protects against:
✔ UVA
✔ UVB
✔ IR (infrared)
✔ Visible light

And here’s the kicker: Infrared + visible light (aka heat) are major triggers for stubborn dark spots and melasma.
🧴 Key Sunscreen Ingredients

• Zinc Oxide
• Titanium Dioxide

Chemical Filters

• Homosalate
• Ethylhexyl Salicylate

✨ Pro Tip for Dark Spots & Pigmentation

Before sunscreen AND after sun exposure (once sunscreen is removed), layer:
• Tranexamic Acid

• Antioxidants (like green tea extract)

🔥 Want a shortcut? Try our PigmentoB Booster Serum — formulated for both pre- and post-sun exposure to combat pigment and boost radiance.

Glycerin vs Hyaluronic Acid

Let’s settle this skincare question once and for all 👇

Both are powerful humectants that hydrate, plump, and soften the look of fine lines and creases…
but they don’t work the same.

✨ Molecule Size Matters
Glycerin = smaller molecule → absorbs easily + works brilliantly in topical skincare.
Hyaluronic Acid = larger molecule → more effective in injectables used in medical aesthetics.

✨ Affordability
Glycerin is far more budget-friendly — and still incredibly effective.

✨ Effectiveness
Topically? Glycerin often performs better because it penetrates more efficiently.

TIP:
For maximum glow:
Apply glycerin on damp skin straight after a shower.
Then seal it in with a lightweight, low molecular-weight oil serum like our Balancing Serum (Grape Seed • Kalahari Melon • Patchouli • Marula • Borage • Rose Geranium).

This combo = hydrated, primed, bouncy skin ✨

This powerhouse ingredient helps:
💧 Calm inflammation
🌿 Brighten dark marks & even tone
💫 Boost elasticity and hydration

Listen! We are not your mama... So binge your favourite shows and pull an all nighter, stay out or up till late, eat takeout, wear your hair down... That's life!

Remember it's ok now an again, but bad habits lead to bad skin... So reign it in whenever you can.

Then are those you rather steer clear from:

Bad Habit: Going to bed with makeup on
Solution: Always cleanse your skin before sleep, your skin should not be hosting an all night buffet for bacteria.

Bad Habit: Wearing hair too close to your face
Solution: As much as possible, keep your hair off your face to avoid clogged pores and breakouts.

Bad Habit: Not drinking enough water
Solution: scientifically there is no magic number of glasses you should drink anymore. It's rather the quality of your water, drinking when you are thirsty, and sipping slowly that's better for you and your gut health which directly impacts your skin.

Don't skip that sunscreen, because UV rays don't take a break on weekends... 🌟
