Wisp of love and Emotions

We am deeply alarmed by the silence and limited visible response from the African Union regarding the ongoing xenophobic violence reported in parts of South Africa.

Disturbing reports and circulating footage suggest that fellow Africans, including nationals from Ghana, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and other countries, are being targeted simply because of their identity. That reality is painful to witness and even harder to ignore.
Even more distressing are accounts alleging that some individuals have been denied access to essential services, including healthcare. In one heartbreaking report, a pregnant woman was allegedly turned away and told to return to Zimbabwe. If confirmed, this is not only unacceptable, it is a violation of basic human dignity 😢
While several individual countries have expressed concern, the African Union’s muted response raises serious questions. Silence in moments like this feels heavy. It feels like absence.

There is an urgent need for the African Union to step forward clearly and firmly, to condemn all acts of xenophobic violence and push for accountability. How do we reconcile silence with the reality of human rights being compromised? What message does this send to future generations about African unity?

What is the role of the African Union in situations like this?
Are there no structured mechanisms to respond decisively to repeated patterns of violence against Africans within Africa itself? Or does response only come when crises escalate into coups or armed conflict?

As an institution founded on unity, dignity, and continental progress, the African Union must rise to the moment. And if existing frameworks are not strong enough to ensure swift protection of African lives, then reform is no longer optional, it is necessary.
Humanity must come first Always.
