He was abandoned by his biological father at the age of three and grew up with three different stepfathers. Keanu suffers from dyslexia and once dreamed of becoming a hockey player, but that dream was shattered by a serious accident. His life has been marked by a series of tragic losses: his daughter died shortly after birth, his wife passed away in a car accident, his best friend River Phoenix died from an overdose, and his sister is battling leukemia.

Despite all this, Keanu has never let his pain turn him bitter. On the contrary, he has always quietly helped those around him.

While filming *The Lake House*, he overheard two costume designers talking. One was crying because he was about to lose his house if he couldn't pay $20,000. That same day, Keanu transferred the full amount to her account without a word of notice. He has donated tens of millions of dollars to hospitals, and after the resounding success of *The Matrix*, he gave over $50 million to the entire costume and special effects crew – whom he called "true heroes." Each stuntman even received a Harley-Davidson. On several occasions, he was willing to give up up to 90% of his salary so that producers could hire other stars.

Keanu doesn't like to show off. He has never spoken to the press about his philanthropy. In 2010, on his birthday, he only bought a small brioche cake with a single candle, ate it right outside the bakery, and offered coffee to strangers who stopped to chat. Once, paparazzi caught him walking through Los Angeles all morning with a homeless person, listening to their story.

Keanu's father has Hawaiian ancestry. But perhaps the most precious thing he inherited was a kind heart. While he could buy anything in the world, Keanu still chooses something that cannot be bought: **being a good person**.

And he does it quietly, sincerely, without needing anyone's praise. That is why the whole world loves Keanu Reeves so much.
