This gorgeous client travelled all the way from Mpumalanga and placed her trust in me to create a sliced foil balayage. During our consultation, we discussed her previous colour history and understood that lifting through old dark colour would be challenging.
What many people don't realise is that hair remembers. Previous dark applications can leave behind stubborn pigment, and breaking through those layers safely takes time.
This session took approximately 6 hours. We carefully worked through the hair, lifting gradually while prioritising the integrity and health of her hair. Although we still have some colour bands from previous colour history, our goal was never to achieve the impossible in one sitting. Our goal was progress, healthy hair, and creating a beautiful foundation for future appointments.
Corrective colour is not a quick service. It requires knowledge, patience, quality products, and realistic expectations. Sometimes you are paying for the years of experience behind the chair, the careful decision-making, and the commitment to protecting your hair throughout the process.
I am so proud of how far we came in just one session, and most importantly, she left happy and confident. As a stylist, that means everything to me.

Colour bands are those visible stripes or uneven sections of colour that appear through the hair after colouring. While everyone wants one seamless result, colour banding is not always caused by your hairstylist.

• Previous colour history: Box dyes, old salon colours, colour removers, henna, and even gloss treatments can leave different layers of pigment in the hair.
