"I started doing my Make-up with Noni in 2019 and I've never had anyone else do my face since. I knew I was at the right place when she took her time studying my features and skin tone; I am a tad darker than she is and a lot of MUAs struggle doing makeup on darker shades but she was able to use products that would perfectly match my skin and accentuate my features. The one thing I really appreciate (and I think that's the case with all her clients) is that she takes one through the process. For example, I have a round face and thanks to her, I now know which eyebrow style is suitable for my face. This information was imparted to me on the very first day she worked on my face. She's the best! Highly recommend!" - Dineo Masho
MakeupNnoni's objective is to deliver quality makeup services for its customers and give them with their money's worth. But, best-quality services do not come without difficulties.
Investing in having a proper kit with high quality makeup is a necessity. This can take some time and products constantly need to be replaced which is a regular expense. Thus, I've had to stay in corporate (keep my 9-5 job) and only operate as a freelance make-up artist (until there's stability in my business) to avoid issues such as not having sufficient funds to restock or get more products to accommodate potential clients.
In addition to that, there were times when I would end up using almost every brush in a single appointment. Now in such a case, I would need to wash the entire brush set before my next client arrives for makeup. This is the most undelightful and exhausting aspect of my job but to give my clients the best service, doing this is the most essential thing. And, it is necessary to maintain hygiene and sanitation. As a result, I've had to hire someone who is going to assist me in situations like these.
Futhermore, one of the hardest things about being a makeup artist is that clients sometimes push for looks they thought or think would look good on them but in reality it does not. Explaining such things can be challenging, especially those technical terms. That is why I now educate my clients on their features, what works for them and the best way to enhance or highlight them, before I start working on their faces.
The last and most common challenge I had with clients in the beginning of my career, was that clients would ask me for a discount during or after application. To be a business-savvy freelancer, I have had to put together a contract and have it signed by my clients before I do my work.
There are numerous challenges when choosing makeup artistry as a profession. Some are more common than others but nothing worthwhile comes without a test.
That is why I love my career choice!

This is a Fox eye makeup look that sort of extends one's eye shape- it was a trend two years ago but I still love creating it up to the present. (It also gives the illusion of a facelift and makes your eyes seem snatched- perfect for those who wish to get work done on their face "facelift" but cannot do so, yet). You can easily give this look a more night time feel with some high volume lashes and a dark lip. The n**e eye has no shimmer, just a matte eyeshadow, should be very light and lined up with a black eyeliner or blended black eyeshadow.

This is a soft, glowing skin makeup look coupled with a colorful smoky eye. It is a great night time look to have when going out with friends/partner. A n**e is always my go-to when I get colourful on the eyes. The makeup look was inspired by the client’s t-shirt.

This is a simple elegant look. One that is created to accentuate one's facial features with a touch of glam. (For instance, the counter and bronzer highlight the client's beautiful cheeks). This look is the kind of makeup I would create on a bride. It’s not too loud, very simple and easy on the eyes.

This is an editorial makeup look- one that is commonly seen in print, e.g magazines, fashion photography, beauty articles and other entertainment arenas. When I create an editorial look, I am usually doing so from a pre-determined idea or concept.(The concept is what drives the creation of the makeup). As seen with the colours, I went for a rainbow look paired with a very subtle glossy shimmery lip. This look can be worn during festivities, or any other day if you are feeling sassy!
