A lot of times I get clients asking me questions about what I use for my locs to appear somewhat curly

Or why their locs seem to have a different texture from another client’s locs

Now here’s the truth when it comes to texture

We all have different hair types, textures and densities

1. When you loc your hair whether Microloc’s or sisterlocks, your hair will take up the texture of your natural hair till they are fully matured.

Once they’re fully mature most locs appear to be more straight that curly or coily

2. When it comes to locs your hair texture has huge role to play in determining how fast your hair locs and matures i.e type 4C hair will mature faster than type 4A, 4B or type 3 hair

3. In relation to yesterday’s post taking your time before getting sisterlocks or Microloc’s will give you enough time to discuss possible outcomes for your hair depending on your hair texture with your loctician

4. Understand that your hair texture also plays a huge role as far as loc maintenance is concerned. This is why some clients need 4 weekly reties in their initial phase others can go a bit longer than that

5. To answer the question on what I use for my locs to appear like this, truth is sisterlocks and microlocs are a very low maintenance hairstyle.

I used shampoo and rose water only for the first 8 months
Currently using shampoo for washing
Rose water for hydrating
A very lightweight hair spray once a week
Inspired Crown Naturals nourishing oil for my edges twice a week
Inspired crown naturals castor oil for my edges once week that’s it

PS: Avoid using heavy products on your locs it’s never a good idea
