"Did you know ash can work wonders for your braids?

I'm one person who loves braids, and I used to wonder why the salon ladies used ashes when doing hair. They’d just start applying it without explaining, and at first, I thought it made the braiding more painful 😂🙈. It wasn’t until I asked one day, and they said, ‘It helps the hair hold better.’ That’s when I decided to read more about it.

Turns out, ash adds grip, absorbs excess oil, and gives you a clean, firm hold while keeping it all natural. It’s an old tradition that’s been around for ages! It’s safe to use as long as the ashes are clean. But after braiding, don’t forget to moisturize your hair to prevent dryness.

If you’re not comfortable with ashes, you can always ask your hairdresser to use styling gel instead.

What’s been your experience with ashes being used on your hair?

🌿 Afro Haircare Tip 🌿

Have you ever tried a hairstyle that you later regretted plaiting due to the challenges you faced while unplaiting it?

Let me share a story with you. A few weeks ago, I decided to experiment with a new hairdo called Ruth Locs, which are a larger version of sister locs.

Although they looked fantastic, they took longer than expected to complete 😅.

Fast forward... when it was time to take them down, it was quite the ordeal. I spent nearly three days struggling to pombosola them.

Thankfully, my Mom and Sister Precious Mungole came to my rescue and helped me finish the process.

After this experience, I vowed never to attempt the same hairstyle again, despite how cute it looked 🥰😅.

Who wants to stress their hands like that imwe sure three days just unplaiting...elo sinizakayesa 🤣

So, what's that one hairstyle you've decided to avoid due to the time-consuming and tedious process of unplaiting?

🌿HAIRCARE TIP🌿

Today's haircare tip is dedicated to those who have shared their experiences of losing their hairline due to tightly installed dreadlocks.

Dealing with hairline loss, especially caused by tight hairstyles like dreadlocks, can be distressing. If you or someone you know is facing this issue, here are some of hair care tips to help restore and promote a healthier hairline.

🌻Avoid Tension-Inducing Hairstyles: Refrain from hairstyles that exert excessive tension on the hairline, such as tight ponytails, braids, or dreadlocks. Give your hairline a break to allow it to recover and regrow.

🌻Embrace Patience: Restoring a receding hairline takes time, so be patient and consistent with your hair care routine. Avoid harsh treatments or products that may worsen the situation.

Remember that everyone's hair journey is unique, and results may vary. Give your hairline the attention and care it deserves, and be kind to yourself throughout the process.🤗

🌿AFRO FRIDAY HAIRCARE TIP🌿

I wanted to share an important haircare tip earlier today, but due to my busy schedule, I couldn't manage. It's a bit lengthy but contains valuable information for those considering installing dreadlocks or getting a retouch. Here's the story:

A friend of mine recently had an experience at a salon in Lusaka while getting her dreadlocks retouched. She wanted to maintain the shape of her locks and visited a salon she sometimes goes to for this purpose, hoping to keep her hair healthy and vibrant. However, the outcome was unexpected.

At the salon, she met a confident and experienced hairstylist. She explained her desire to retouch her dreadlocks while keeping them intact, and the hairstylist assured her that she could handle the task with ease.

Unfortunately, during the retouching process, the hairstylist started pulling and tugging at the tightly knotted strands, causing my friend discomfort.

She even requested the hairstylist to be more careful, but the pain persisted.

Despite the discomfort, my friend remained hopeful about the end result. However, three days after the salon session, her scalp became more irritated, and she developed sores along her hairline.

She tried taking some pain killers because of the persistent headache she developed a week after the retouch but the pain continued regardless.

Concerned about her condition, she visited a clinic to seek medical attention. The nurse who examined her scalp immediately identified the problem.

The tight pulling during the retouching session later caused swelling eventually the doctor who attended to her informed her that the sores had formed an abscess and so he had to squeeze it out to help with the discomfort and headache she was experiencing.

The lesson learnt from this story is that hairstylists should be cautious about the amount of tension they apply when retouching dreadlocks.

Pulling the hair too tightly can lead to painful sores and other complications, ultimately harming the scalp.

It's important to prevent avoidable complications and prioritize the well-being of someone's hair and scalp.

Currently, my friend is still recovering from this traumatic experience and below is a photo after the visit to the clinic.

Finding a perfect hairstyle as a bride is one of the toughest things and also a k**a process a bride can ever go through…and it’s not even for what what…😅

My journey to finding the best hairstyle for the Chilanga mulilo started months and months ago but to put up the perfect hairstyle, I only came to decide like two days before my event🫢😅.

It's tough and there are so many inspirations of bridal hairstyles out there. ( hope I can be an inspiration to others with my hairstyle🤪 ) 😉

So many photos were saved in my phone galler and as the big day approached awe sure it was not things and believe you me any bride can attest to this.

At the end of the day through the various inspirations I came across online, I finally managed to choose and recreate the hairstyles to my specifications and came up with something I loved, was comfortable in and also suited the type and nature of the event.

Though nayo for the hairstylist to understand the concept of what I wanted awe sure it's a story for another day 😅.

All is all Love was in the hair 😍

🌿HAIRCARE TIP 🌿

We know it’s getting cold but please avoid using hot water to wash your hair during cold season as it can strip natural oils from your scalp and make your hair dry and frizzy.
Instead, use lukewarm water to avoid any hair damage.

Here is a tip to finding a goos hairstylist even though it can be challenging.

Ask for Referrals

Word of mouth referrals is often the best way to find a good hair stylist. Ask your friends or family members with natural hair who they go to for their hair care needs.

Lusaka is this weekend hyped with several music concerts and other outdoor activities.🤗
Exciting as it may be attending these events can also be a challenge when it comes to taking care of your hair.

🐾 Make sure to protect your hair from the sun by wearing a hat or scarf as direct sunlight can cause your hair to become dry and brittle.

🐾You may also consider moisturizing your hair or style your hair in a protective hairstyles from the sun.
