Injectables: Small amounts of botulinum toxin rarely enter the bloodstream. However, because data on injectables in breastfeeding is limited, discuss with your doctor or delay until you finish nursing.
Facials and products: Most over‑the‑counter cosmetics remain low risk. Gentle facials focusing on cleansing and hydration are safe; just avoid spray tan or hair dye on the ni**le or ar**la. If your skin feels dry from sleepless nights, hydrating facials or hyaluronic acid serums can offer relief once your provider gives the go‑ahead.

Post‑Partum & Breastfeeding
When your baby arrives, hormones begin to stabilise. You might be ready to revisit treatments, but caution is still wise:
Laser hair removal: Public health guidance reports no evidence that laser hair removal affects breast milk. Some doctors suggest it is generally safe while breastfeeding. However, they advise waiting a few months after birth for hormones to settle, avoiding the breast and ar**la and doing a patch test first.

At‑Home Care
Protect yourself from melasma with broad‑spectrum mineral sunscreen and wide‑brimmed hats. Drink plenty of water and use fragrance‑free moisturisers to support the skin barrier. Avoid hydroquinone because of high absorption and skip unbranded products. Always consult your doctor before adding new skincare.

Plan Around Your Trimester
Your baby’s organs form in the first trimester, so avoid elective procedures during this period. The third trimester carries a higher risk of preterm labour. If a non‑cosmetic procedure is necessary, doctors often recommend scheduling it in the second trimester. Avoid unnecessary exposure to local anaesthetics that could cross the placenta.

3. Injectables: Botulinum toxin and dermal fillers have minimal research in pregnancy, so most providers recommend waiting.
4. Benzocaine and tetracaine: These anesthetic creams are not recommended. 5. Lidocaine may be used in small amounts under medical supervision.
hydroquinone: Prescription-strength retinoids are contraindicated in pregnancy; hydroquinone is absorbed in large amounts.
