In Zimbabwe today, three realities are quietly intersecting in the life of a girl:

-Climate change
-Environmental sustainability
-Menstrual health

When drought hits, water becomes scarce and something as basic as managing a period safely becomes a daily struggle.

When floods or economic shocks disrupt livelihoods, sanitary products become a luxury many families simply cannot afford. When waste systems are overwhelmed, disposable pads become an environmental burden yet alternatives remain out of reach for the most vulnerable.

This is what period poverty looks like in a climate-stressed world.

At Green Alliance Foundation Africa, through our Campaign, we are addressing this intersection head-on to:

-promote sustainable menstrual solutions that are safe for girls and kinder to the environment
-Integrate climate awareness and education into menstrual health conversations
-Supporte girls in communities where climate vulnerability deepens inequality
-Advocate for dignity, access, and environmental responsibility, together, not separately

Because you cannot talk about climate justice without talking about girls. And you cannot talk about sustainability without addressing dignity.

This Menstrual Health Awareness Month, we are inviting:

1. Partners: to co-create solutions at the intersection of climate and gender

2. Donors: to support access to both sanitary products and sustainable alternatives

3. Media: to help us tell this urgent, underreported story across Zimbabwe.

The future we are building must be green but it must also be just.

And justice begins with dignity.

Across our communities, too many young girls still face barriers to dignity, education, and opportunity. Through this campaign, we are changing that narrative, empowering girls to rise boldly and take their place as leaders, including in climate action.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of participating in the Love for Nature Festival, hosted by , and partners. It was an inspiring convergence of climate advocates, creatives, and community leaders committed to environmental stewardship.

We proudly exhibited selected artworks from our Her Climate Canvas Project, a climate education initiative that uses art as a transformative bridge between Indigenous wisdom, climate science, and public engagement.

Her Climate Canvas is art for climate justice. It is where creativity meets activism. Where storytelling becomes strategy. And where every brushstroke is a call for change.

Through visual expression, we are not only raising awareness, we are reclaiming narrative power, amplifying women and girls’ voices, and translating climate realities into accessible, emotional, and actionable conversations.

Climate change is not only an environmental issue, it is a social justice issue. And true justice demands accessibility, representation, and equal opportunity at every table where decisions are made.
