Jah Prayzah’s 3rd Generation band and Military Touch Movement brand has grown in leaps and bounds in the past few years, in that time there has been a lot of comings and goings at the band as some seek greener pastures. In all these years there has only been one consistent feature that has become part of the furniture at 3rd Generation and in fact this feature is now synonymous with the brand and there is almost no separation between her and the brand because she has treated her role within the brand with respect and taken it seriously. This year she celebrates 9years at 3rd Generation, ladies and gentlemen I introduce to you Stimmy Stimela

Born Fatima Katiji in Harare on the 23rd of May 1984 Stimmy is the 2nd born in a family of 5 she spent her early childhood in Harare staying in Craneborne where her father was a member of the Zimbabwe National Army. Her father’s profession would later lead her to HQ1 Brigade Brady Barracks where she would make her appointment with destiny. It is in Bulawayo that Fatima’s career in the arts industry would take off, having attended her primary education at HQ 1 Brigade Primary School she proceeded to attend Townsend Girls High School before enrolling with Amakhositheatrerep Rep in 2003. It was at Amakhosi where she would get her first taste of professional music set up when she became part of Amakhosikazi an all-female ensemble as a backing vocalist before joining another group Five Fold as a lead vocalist after the former had disintegrated filling the void left by her sister EdithWeutonga Katiji who had left for greener pastures. In 2007 Fatima joined the group So What? another predominantly female group where she would team up with her sister Edith WeUtonga doing a lot of gigs at some then famous venues like The Book café, Jazz105 and Sports Dinner among many others. 2010 would see her move again this time joining Alexio Kawara & Shades of Black as her profile continued to rise, it was in this same year that she also teamed up with Diana Samkange Mangwenya 2011 was a significant year in Fatima’s career as she performed the opening song at the HIFA - Harare International Festival of Arts before sharing the stage with mbira legend and her source of inspiration CHIWONISO MARAIRE 2012 would prove to be Fatima's breakthrough year after having had partnered with Josh Meck in that year she teamed up with Jah Prayzah for the recording of Tsviriyo album and has been with Jah ever since.

Now celebrating 9 years at 3rd Generation and 17years in the industry Fatima’s rise has not been smooth sailing as some would believe, she has had to start from the bottom and has had to earn her stripes and along the way deal with prejudice that is normally associated with women in the arts and entertainment industry. Fatima recalls a time when she performed only to cash $5.00 from which she also needed her transport fare but the lure and the passion for the industry saw her through those difficult times and now from performing for $5 she has graduated to performing for international audiences alongside global icons which has grown her as a performing artist. Fatima has not forgotten where she came from and is giving back to the community what she has learnt over the years through a community initiative called StimyBee Dance Factory that she runs with yet another talented Katiji offspring Beauty her sister. This initiative is meant to and has been identifying talented dancers in her neighborhood of Mabvuku Tafara with the intention of developing them and setting them up for success in the arts and entertainment industry. The fact that she can be able to do her personal projects on the side is one of the reasons that she has stayed loyal and remained part of 3rd generation because the team has also been supportive in reciprocation of the loyalty and commitment that she has shown to the family (band). In fact, while at 3rd Generation she has released two singles Anondichengeta (2014) and Garandichauya (2019). Now popularly known as Stimy_Stimela a name she was given by Jah she continues to charm and warm our hearts with her infectious smile and choreography something that we have missed so much as a result of the current global pandemic circumstances.
