This painting has always made me smile. It’s bold, colorful, fun and a little quirky—just like the talented artist who created it, Jay Lincoln.

Jay passed away a few days ago, and I’ve been thinking about the wonderful memories connected to him and his art. He held two shows at Fusion Salon, one in 2004 and another in 2005, and both were incredibly successful.

His 2004 show took place during the Park Avenue Holiday Festival. Throughout the event, Jay worked live on a commissioned painting of The Beatles. It was so much fun having that work in progress happening right inside the salon. People could watch him paint, ask questions, talk with him and experience his creative process firsthand.

Jay was also a professor at RIT, a familiar face at Lux Lounge in the South Wedge, and a well-known and respected artist throughout Rochester and beyond.

I feel very fortunate to have known Jay, to have shared his work with so many people at Fusion, and to have this one-of-a-kind painting and all the memories that come with it.

Jay’s incredible talent, colorful personality and presence will truly be missed. ❤️
